Set up your E.W.A.
Follow these steps to connect your E.W.A. water sensor. It is straightforward -- just go through them one by one.
E.W.A. versions
Find out which version you have
Check which E.W.A. version you have: Balboa, Gecko V2, Gecko V3, or 220V Standalone. You can find this on the label on the back of the module. If you bought E.W.A. together with Spapilot, it is also listed in your order confirmation email.
Not sure which version you have? Email support@zavepower.com with your order number and we will help you find out.
Connect the sensor probe
Screw the sensor probe into the sensor port on your spa plumbing. This port is usually located near the filter or the circulation pump. Tighten it by hand -- do not use tools, as overtightening can damage the fitting. The tip of the probe needs to sit in the water flow.
The probe needs to be in contact with moving water to give accurate readings. If your spa has multiple ports, choose one near the pump.
Plug in the E.W.A. module
Place the E.W.A. module inside your spa's equipment compartment in a dry spot, up off the ground if possible. Connect it to power using the cable that came in the box. For the 220V Standalone version, plug it into a regular power outlet. For Balboa and Gecko versions, connect the supplied cable to the auxiliary port.
Keep the module away from water spray and heat. After plugging in, the small light on the module should turn on and stay steady.
Connect it to the app
If you have a Spapilot device: open the Spapilot app, go to Settings, tap 'Add Device', and choose E.W.A. from the list. Follow the instructions on screen. If you are using E.W.A. on its own without Spapilot: press and hold the small button on the module for 5 seconds. The light will blink twice to confirm it is in standalone mode.
Both devices need to be powered on and close to each other (within about 5 metres) during the pairing process.
Wait for it to calibrate (about 24 hours)
After connecting, the sensor automatically adjusts itself to your water. During this time (about 24 hours), the light on the module will pulse slowly. This is completely normal. Do not unplug or move the probe during this period. When it is done, the light will stay steady and your water readings will appear in the app.
You will get the best results if your water is already reasonably balanced before setup. Ideal pH is between 7.2 and 7.6.
Start monitoring your water
Once calibration is complete, you can see your water quality readings in the app at any time. Go to the 'Water Quality' tab to check pH (acidity level), ORP (a measure of how clean the water is), and temperature. If you are using E.W.A. without Spapilot, open the E.W.A. companion app instead.
We recommend turning on alerts in the app so you get a notification on your phone when the water needs attention. That way you never have to worry about forgetting to check.
That is it -- you are done!
